3 Essential Parts of The Reconnection Method (& How They Work Together)

After sharing my deeply personal story last week, I promised to share what actually worked for me. Let’s dive into the framework that didn’t just help me survive – it taught me how to truly thrive.

“When we can say ‘this is what I am, this is what I wish to become,’ then we can do something about it.” – Gloria Steinem

This framework was by far the only way I was going to move on from my anxiety, and it was the only way that got me through it all (and continues to support me every day).

A caveat – the framework is simple. And you’ll recognize it. But the more complicated stuff is embodying it. You’ll intellectually see it as familiar, but the way to what you want is simply using it. This will require deeper dives within yourself and, as I like to call it, sitting in the shit so you can face the issues that are tripping you up. The things that keep you stuck. The things that are keeping you from life satisfaction that’s available to you.

Honestly, this work is no different than any other “greatness” you seek to achieve – no magic pill’ll get you in shape; you have to do the work (despite our friend O-zem-pic.)

The framework is understanding what makes you you and knowing where you have control and where you don’t. And how to deal with both.

It’s knowing how to work with you versus against you. Life can be tough at times (because shit happens), but it is much easier to “deal with” if you can learn this method.

That framework is: The Reconnection Method

The most critical part is the Higher Self. Think of this as your control center…your CEO, your Queen, or the mom. Whichever resonates the most with you.

This is who calls the shots, which is needed because we all know in any system (corporate world, religion, kingdoms, households), there’s got to be someone in charge, directing traffic and making decisions. Otherwise, it’s a free-for-all.

So knowing there is a part of you that gets to see life from “up above” is the key to

understanding how to rise above life, see it for what it is, and see people for who they are.

The second major part of this method is knowing the parts of you that “report into” the higher self, AKA team members. These are the mind, body, and soul.

I want to explain their basic jobs and where they can either get you in trouble or work at their highest potential and mostly, how to work with them to live at your highest potential.

Again, this is nothing new. It’s just a new way of looking at it. It’s a new method that does what Dr. Gries told me I needed – to have a relationship with myself. To build a home and know you’re always safe. It is THE way to live-and for me, the only way.

And we talk A LOT about the mind, body, and soul. But what we don’t talk about is what they all do at their core and how we, as our higher selves, are supposed to manage them so we can literally get through anything. We can get unstuck. We can overcome criticism. We can overcome loss and pain. We can literally do anything. It’s that powerful.

Let’s look at the overview.

Mind

A basic understanding is its job and how that works for you but how it also holds you back. The mind’s main objective is to stop you from dying, aka see danger as soon as humanely possible, and then protect you accordingly. Essentially, the mind keeps you alive. The good news? You’re alive. The bad news? It gets fearful of unnecessary things that keep you from your highest potential. Like going for a new job, starting a new hobby, or finally beginning to write or draw.

Body

At its most basic level, it keeps you moving and doing. It can be a wonderful resource for accomplishing life’s goals and desires. But it can also harbor trauma and stagnant emotions that turn up as illnesses or dis-ease. It can send major alarms when the mind is freaking out.

Soul

The golden child of the three. The first born. The driver of all of your desires. The key to living the very best life you can live. The messenger for all that is possible for you. The loudspeaker when things are getting off track (think anxiety.) It’s your highway to the biggest, most beautiful life you can have. It’s the access to the higher realm, the source.

Getting them to all work together is your highest priority so you can carry out your soul’s desires, which is your purpose in life.

Honestly, this is hard for me to write about because it’s literally changed my life. The deeper I understand this method, the better my life gets. But explaining it in a blog post almost feels cheap or limited. Nonetheless, I want you to see it as a starting point that will dramatically change your life-especially the connection between you and your soul. We’re not taught how to do this, so we’re lost and confused. Stressed. Anxious. Completely frustrated with how life turned out.

When you embody the idea that your soul’s desires are the most important aspect of your life (your purpose), you are living your highest calling and your life changes.

Once you realize this is the way to building a relationship with yourself, you’ll know you’ll always have a home, no matter where you live.

My journey back to myself and my home was the single thing that changed everything. At one point, I remember getting so close to me that I would have visions of a bridge. I was on one side, and the woman I knew I needed to be was on the other. I could barely see her through the fog and across the rickety bridge.

I knew I had to get to her. And I did. I’m happy to say I no longer suffer from anxiety and panic attacks, but if and when I sense anxiety creeping in, it hits. It’s like a small bump that got kicked up by a boat passing by and not a tidal wave. And most importantly, I know what to do. I go inward and I make a safe space for myself to be. I hold myself.

In my next post, we’ll dive into specific practices for each part – mind, body, and soul. Understanding the framework is just the beginning – the real magic happens when you start living it.

If this post resonated with you, take a moment to notice which part of the framework called to you the most, then share this post with someone who might need to build their own unshakeable inner home..
